About MuVIT
Real Skills. Simulated Water.
MuVIT was built on a simple belief: recreational boaters deserve training that’s as rigorous as real life without the accident potential or a large price tag.
Whether you’re easing a boat into a slip for the first time or learning to read a radar screen in fog, MuVIT gives you a safe, repeatable, and affordable way to practice the skills that actually keep you and your passengers safe on the water.
What MuVIT Does
MuVIT is a boating simulator designed to train both the fundamentals and the advanced skills that separate a confident boater from a nervous one.
Essential Skills
- Docking and close-quarters maneuvering
- Rules of the road and navigation basics
- Situational awareness and decision-making under pressure
Advanced Skills
- Radar interpretation and collision avoidance
- Instrument-based navigation
- Handling challenging conditions before you ever face them on open water
Because it’s simulated, you can practice the maneuvers that are hardest to rehearse in real life, tight docking approaches, low-visibility navigation, and changing situations as many times as it takes. Without the cost of fuel, dock fees, or risk to your boat.
Why I Built It
I’ve spent more than 40 years in the IT industry, and looking back, it’s a career that traces an unusual line: from the deck of a machine room to the management of enterprise security.
I started out writing code for industrial control systems, the kind of software where a bug isn’t an inconvenience; it’s a safety incident. That early discipline carried into work on analog diagnostic systems, where precision and the ability to read subtle signals correctly were the whole job.
From there, my career moved into enterprise security, and eventually into leading the global security program for a large corporation. I was responsible for protecting systems at a scale where the margin for error is measured in millions of dollars and, sometimes, real-world safety.
Across all of it, one thread never changed: complex, high-stakes skills are best learned in a simulated environment before they’re tested in the real world. That’s true for control system operators, it’s true for security teams running incident-response drills, and it’s absolutely true for boaters.
Recreational boating training, though, hadn’t caught up. Quality instruction was often expensive, inconsistent, or limited to a few hours on the water with an instructor you hoped was qualified. This just didn’t include enough repetition to build real muscle memory for docking, rules of the road, or reading a radar screen under pressure.
MuVIT is my answer to that gap: a simulator that takes the same principle I relied on for four decades in industrial and security systems, practice the high-stakes moments in a safe environment until they become instinct. It brings it to every boater at a cost that doesn’t require a professional training budget.
The Mission
Make real boating competency accessible. Not just the rules you need to pass a test, but the hands-on judgment that keeps you, your passengers, and everyone else on the water safe.
Whether you’re brand new to boating or you’ve been at the helm for years and want to sharpen your radar skills, MuVIT gives you a place to build that competency one simulated session at a time.
